Our Journey in Financial Education

Building better money habits through practical budget categorization since 2019

Where It All Started

Back in 2019, our founder Imogen Blackwood was sitting in her kitchen, surrounded by receipts and bank statements. She'd just helped her third friend that month figure out where their money was going each week. That's when it hit her — most people aren't lazy with money, they just never learned a system that actually works.

What started as weekend coffee sessions helping mates sort their spending has grown into Australia's most practical approach to budget categorization. We don't do complex spreadsheets or unrealistic penny-pinching. Instead, we teach the kind of money management that fits into real life.

Six years later, we've helped over 3,200 Australians build budgeting systems they actually stick with. Our secret? We focus on understanding your spending patterns first, then create categories that make sense for how you live.

keravonix changed how I think about money completely. I went from avoiding my bank balance to actually looking forward to budget reviews. Their categorization system just clicks — it's like they understand how normal people actually spend money, not how financial textbooks say we should.

What Drives Us Every Day

We believe financial education should be practical, not preachy. Too many programs focus on restriction and guilt. We focus on understanding and systems that actually work with your lifestyle.

Our approach comes from years of working with real people facing real money challenges. Single parents juggling childcare costs. Young professionals managing student loans and rent. Small business owners dealing with irregular income. Each situation taught us something new about what actually helps people succeed with budgeting.

  • No judgment about past financial decisions
  • Systems that work for irregular incomes
  • Practical tools over theoretical concepts
  • Focus on progress, not perfection
  • Support that continues after the program ends
